About

Born in the Dravinian Hinterlands 150 years ago, Wiscard was raised by his mother and father in a small cottage near a small cluster of mines. His father provided for their family by mining precious gems and ore to sell to travelers moving between the old Sharlayan colony and the ever growing Ishgardian city-state to the North. Their location was perfect for this work, as they were situated in between both, though it often was perilous with the rising tensions between the two areas.In an unfortunate mining accident that was caused by this tension, Wiscard’s father lost his life. Being in the mines with him on that day, Wis witnessed his death first hand, but survived after having lost an eye. His mother never fully recovered from the loss, and continues to hold Wiscard accountable for the accident. Her misplaced grief festered over the years, leading to an addiction to the opioid Somnus as well as Pluto.In order to atone for the loss of his father, Wiscard moved their family home to Old Sharlayan where he worked hard to get into the studium as a culinary student. Through more hardship and many years of unfair treatment, he lost his spot as a student, but was offered the chance to become a gleaner. The money he makes is sent back home to pay for his mother’s medical expenses as well as the upkeep on their house there.His main goal in Eorzea proper is to find purpose, happiness, and an escape from the guilt and ghosts that follow him.
